Daniel Ricciardo has provided raw insights into Formula 1's psychological demands, describing how "many days just hurt" throughout his racing career. In interviews with Ford CEO Jim Farley reported by Motorsport.com, the Australian offered candid reflections on his F1 journey after departing Racing Bulls following the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix.

Success Rates and Harsh Realities

The veteran driver put his career achievements in stark perspective, noting the mathematical reality of Grand Prix racing. Across 14 seasons and more than 250 race entries, Ricciardo captured eight victories and 32 podium finishes - numbers that highlight how infrequently drivers taste success even at the sport's highest level.

"The really good days are few and far between, but there's something about it that just keeps bringing you back, and I think it makes the highs higher because you don't win every day," Ricciardo explained to Farley.

The former Red Bull driver acknowledged his reluctance to discuss F1's darker moments, recognizing that fans primarily witness the glamorous aspects. However, he emphasized the unavoidable reality: "What goes up must come down," describing numerous frustrating days complicated by factors beyond driver control.

Victory's Unique Rush

Despite the struggles, Ricciardo vividly described the intoxicating experience of Grand Prix victory. He characterized race wins as providing "a weird power" that creates feelings of invincibility while simultaneously remaining humbling.

"On that day, you were the best in the world at doing a single thing. And it's powerful," he reflected. "You're filled with this rush and this pride and this kind of almighty strength, but at the same time, as high as it is, it's also very grounding."

Following his F1 departure, Ricciardo has transitioned into a global ambassador role with Ford Racing, beginning a new professional chapter after more than a decade competing at motorsport's pinnacle level.
