Cadillac Formula 1 test driver Colton Herta has revealed that transitioning from his IndyCar career to pursue an F1 opportunity was an “easy” decision, according to Motorsport.com.

Speaking on the F1 Beyond The Grid podcast, Herta explained that the chance to achieve his lifelong goal of driving in Formula 1 made the Cadillac offer irresistible. “Having this opportunity to try to get there and try to achieve that dream and that goal of being a Formula 1 driver, I saw it as a great opportunity. It's very easy for me to say yes to,” he stated.

Herta, who spent eight years in the IndyCar Series, recording nine wins, 19 podiums, and 16 pole positions, emphasized his deep passion for motorsport beyond just IndyCar. He cited Formula 1 as being at the top of his personal list of racing aspirations alongside IndyCar.

Currently racing in Formula 2 while fulfilling his test driver duties with Cadillac, Herta is actively working towards securing a full-time F1 seat with the American team, which is set to join the grid in 2026.
